Working Agreement Scrum Alliance

The work agreements should be reviewed at the end of each final sprint during the retrospective session. As soon as team members feel that they are doing well with each agreement and that there is something else that needs to be addressed/discussed and added as a working agreement, they can replace it with another consensus agreement. While the teams are great – all work on the same floor, in a time zone and speak the same language – research shows that virtual teams are often more productive. According to a report by global consulting firm Aon, employee productivity can increase by 10 to 43 percent if companies allow employees to work remotely or from home. As I wanted to do SM to facilitate the process, I coached her to create a list of questions for each value, to generate a discussion and to help teams decide on all the “rules” we should create to ensure that everyone respects that value. We didn`t care where the answers were placed as long as they were captured. The SM asked the questions and collected the answers, while the team voted on the points to be formalized in a working agreement. In this regard, the SM was able to summarize what was most appreciated by the collective team (see Table 2). Team members share their suggestions and why they feel they should be part of the working agreements.

Some relatively easy points. The ScrumMaster takes note of these ideas on the Board of Directors. Work agreements are the rules/disciplines/processes that the team is ready to follow, without making themselves more effective and simplistic about the self-administered aspects of the Scrum. These agreements help the team develop a common understanding of what it means to work as a team. Most of the challenges faced by remote teams can be met through good communication. Joint infrastructure and work agreements will make this easier, but, as Fewell says, “I can`t stress enough – I won`t stop to talk about why it`s so difficult.” “What`s good at Scrum is good at Scrum,” Fewell says. “If you have your own team space, you have a dedicated infrastructure for a global or distributed team. If you have work arrangements on how you do in the office, you have work arrangements, as we can manage in an isolated environment. As the list of important things grew, everyone was ready to formalize them in the team`s rules as the first work agreements.
